Early Works

The paintings presented in this section are a selection of Schwebel’s early works, the majority of which were painted in New York and Japan under the teachings

of the Zen master Kimura Kyoen, during the  early 50’s, as part of his U.S.

military service. Additional sketches refer to the Free-Standing-Painting,

a project constructed by Schwebel presenting a series of painted walls, meant to respond to the locale. Several have been constructed, including the 7 meter mural on the outer walls of the Tel Aviv Culture hall.
